... this site: If you are looking for electronic gimmicks, lots of capital letters and exclamation points and vague mentions of rare and valuable stamps, you have come to the wrong place. If you are interested in authoritative comments on the collecting world and an interesting and unusual variety of stamps, covers and postcards, carefully described and reasonably priced, please read on.
I am a keen collector and active in Scottish, British and North American stamp circles. I am a member of many philatelic groups and a former president of two of the Edinburgh philatelic societies. Here I am at the 2002 Scottish Stamp Congress in Perth with my display on D-Day that was one of the exhibits provided by the hosts, the Edinburgh Philatelic Society. My D-Day exhibit is inspired by my father's participation in the D-Day landing on 6 June, 1944, and the post he sent home. It used to be called "Two Junes in Normandy," as he also produced philatelic mementoes when he returned for the 50th anniversary. However I accompanied him to Normandy for the 60th anniversary and now the collection includes material from that trip as well. I am a journalist by profession and have been an editor on daily newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic. I contribute to a variety of stamp and postcard magazines and have written a column on Commonwealth collecting for Canadian Stamp News for about 13 years.
